About Us


Our Program

i-rise is a project that was developed as a part of the Global Program at University of Michigan-Flint.The University of Michigan, through the School of Education and Human Services on the Flint campus, is pleased to announce the Technology in Education Global Program, with courses offered in Geneva, Switzerland, and online, beginning in May, 2007. The Global Program is a 15-month program leading to a master's degree emphasizing meaningful use of technology for teaching topics of global importance. The program includes two 3-week summer residencies in Geneva, with all other coursework offered online. The program is appropriate for anyone interested in the potential of educational technology at a global level, and it is ideal for educators preparing to take leading roles in schools, colleges, non-governmental organizations, cultural institutions, businesses, and other organizations poised to use technology for educational purposes.

Our Partners

i-rise is partnered with the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO). The International Baccalaureate (IB) offers high quality programmes of international education to a worldwide community of schools. Our three programmes for students aged 3 to 19 help develop the intellectual, personal, emotional and social skills to live, learn and work in a rapidly globalizing world. There are more than 554,000 IB students at 2,094 schools in 125 countries.

Who are we?

Currently, I-rise consists of two graduate students Molly O'Dell and Paula Samal from University of Michigan-Flint in the Global Program.

  • Molly O'Dell ...
  • Paula Samal is a social studies teacher at Walled Lake Central High School in Walled Lake, MI. She has a Bachelors of Art in International Relations from Michigan State University - James Madison and a Masters in Arts in Teaching from Wayne State University. She is currently a graduate student in the Global Program at the University of Michigan Flint.
